Many compliments were paid to some members on the quality of restoration work which had been undertaken on their cars. The next show at Clarence Terrace garage will be on 27th February, 2011. Contact Ashley.
Bryant announced that the cheque for £1,000 which was raised by the Beacons Run for Maggie’s Cancer Care in Singleton Hospital will presented during the next month. The Classic Car restoration show is in Stoneleigh on the 24th October.

The new exhibition at Swansea Museum entitled, “The Road Ahead” is still running (runs until Christmas) and it is worth a visit.

Everyone is asked to put their thinking caps on because the arrangements for the Christmas do must be settled in the October meeting to give us enough time to organise.
Paul Smith is still taking orders for club items (polo shirts, sweatshirts, fleeces, anoraks and caps) so be quick to order yours if you are interested.
Late news: Does anyone remember a red MGB Roadster registration OWC 911M? It is now residing in Malta and the new owner would like to know a bit more about it and its history. He has MOTs from Abbey Services in Skewen.
Minutes of meeting held on 3rd August, 2010
This month’s meeting began at 7pm in the car park of the Plough and Harrow Public House in Llangyfelach with a good turn out for the club night run. The run which was organised by Robin Jones took us to Gower to enjoy fish and chips at Llanrhidian Caravan Park but because everyone knew where we were going it resembled “Wacky Races” rather than a leisurely summer’s evening run.
The show and run season is still in full flow and 3 members attended the Pendine Dash which, once again, lived up to its reputation. Members of the Pembrokeshire MGOC can be proud of their efforts. On the same day, 8 members showed their cars at Pembrey Circuit. The weather was kind and the day finished with a run around the race track. A week later, in the show staged by the Skewen Classic Motor Car Club 7 cars from Swansea MG Enthusiasts Club attended and Lionel Rosser’s 1948 MG TC was awarded ‘Best in Show.’ Members are now looking forward to the Dinefwr Show and the Beacons Run.
At the time of writing the final touches are being put to the Beacons Run which will now come too quickly.
Paul Smith is delivering the orders for the extended list of club regalia. We will all now proudly wear our coats on runs and club nights. So if you don’t want to be left out order yours now.
Minutes of meeting held on 1st July, 2010
This month’s meeting began at 7pm in the car park of the Plough and Harrow Public House in Llangyfelach with 23 attending the club night run. This included two new members. The run, which was well organised by John and Anita Dorney, took us up through Cymllynfech, the Swansea valley and ended in Pontardawe where we enjoyed the hospitality of The Pontardawe Inn, with some of the members enjoying a meal.
The show and run season is still in full flow and members have attended the Cotswold Caper, and shows at Caldicot Castle and at the Festival Fields, Llanelli and are looking forward to both the Pendine Dash and the Beacons Run. Members also filled in entry forms for the Dinefwr Show (19/9) and the Pembrey Circuit (8/8).
Beacons Run – The final touches are being put to the Beacons Run to be held on 26th September and, as the entries are limited to 120, now is the time to enter if you have not already done so as the entries are coming in quickly.
The August run will start at the Plough and Harrow, Llangyfelach at 7 pm so be early or you may miss out.
Paul Smith is now taking orders for an extended list of club regalia. The list now includes baseball caps and waterproof storm jackets. (Ideal for use in an open top MG.) Twenty two of these jackets were ordered after everyone enjoyed trying Bryant’s jacket on. Please be quick to order yours if you are interested.
Minutes of meeting held on 1st June, 2010
This month’s meeting began at 7pm in the car park of the Baglebrook Restaurant in Baglan with 17 cars and one 4x4 attending the club night run. The number of MGs in one place caused a stir and promoted the marque. We had a potential new member who is the owner of 3 MGs. The run took us up through Cwmavon, over the Rhigos Mountain via Craig-y-Llyn, Treherbet, and down the A465 to Pont-nedd Vaughan where thirty of us enjoyed the hospitality of The Angel public house with a meal.
The show and run season is now in full swing and members are now having to make choices as to which they attended when dates clash. Nine members attended the Festival of Transport in Barry, 10 members attended the show in Tredegar Park, 7 members attended the ‘Under Milk Wood Road Run’ from Bracelet Bay in Mumbles to the foreshore in Laugharne (the first day of the National Transport Festival of Wales) and 8 members attended the show in Landore which was the second day of the Festival. On the same day 2 members joined the Bridgend MGOC Vales and Valleys Run which followed the route through the Brecon Beacons and finished at Swansea Bay Golf Club where we enjoyed a raffle with prizes too many to mention and two auctions which raised funds for their chosen charities.
The club Curry Night was held on 17th June in the Wig and Pen, Swansea and it was, once again, a resounding success.
Beacons Run – The final touches are being put to the Beacons Run to be held on 26th September and as the entries are limited to 120 now is the time to enter if you have not already done so as the entries are coming in quickly.
The July run will start at the Plough and Harrow, Llangyfelach at 7 pm so be early or you may miss out.
Paul Smith is still taking orders for club items (polo shirts, sweatshirts and fleeces) so be quick to order yours if you are interested.
Minutes of meeting held on 4th May, 2010
The Meeting began at 8.20 p.m. with 25 members attending.
The meeting started with Bryant giving members entry forms for the Pontardulais Classic Car Club show which is to be held at the Festival Fields, Pwll on 11th July and vouchers for the shows which had already been entered by members.
The Singleton Show was a great success with Nick Willis taking Best in Class D with his primrose yellow MGB GT. The club stand was well attended with 17 cars showing and it enjoyed a constant flow of visitors. After spilling the beans about Bryant and his afternoon nap in Pembrey it was my turn to give in to age and I had a 20 minute snooze. The question of the day was, “How many eggs can you get in the boot of a Midget?” Answer at end of this report.
Nick Willis's primrose yellow MGB GT AKG 774K. Best in Class D at Singleton, 2010
Nine members showed their cars in Pencoed Show, Bridgend on 9th May.
Bryant was the only club member who attended the MGOC organised weekend at Cricket St. Thomas for the St. George's Day celebrations. He was given a warm welcome by the Pembrokeshire ruffians and they included him with their club. 260 MGs attended the event which was well organised and recommended to everyone.
£50 compensation has been received from the building society following their mistakes with the cheque which was presented to the Burns Unit at Morriston Hospital following last years Beacons Run. This cheque has now also gone to the Burns Unit.
Beacons Run – The final touches are being put to the Beacons Run to be held on 26th September and as the entries are limited to 120 now is the time to enter if you have not already done so as the entries are coming in quickly.
The June run was discussed at the meeting and it will start at the Bagle Brook in Baglan at 7 pm (postcode SA12 8ES). The run is open to everyone and will end at the Angel in Pont-nedd Vaughan. A meal is available and Robin will need to know who wants what. He should be contacted before the 28th May with your orders.
Paul Smith is still taking orders for club items (polo shirts, sweatshirts and fleeces) so be quick to order yours if you are interested.
The next club Curry Night is to be held on 17th June in the Wig and Pen, Swansea.
Answer: Twelve and a half dozen.
Minutes of meeting held on 6th April, 2010
The Meeting began at 8.20 p.m. with 17 members attending. This included 2 new members.
Apologies for absence: None.
Outstanding subs for 2010 should be paid promptly to Geoff Powell. This year we have 24 fully subscribed members of which 7 are new.
The meeting began with John Dorney giving members the windscreen stickers for the Singleton Show and it was advised that members try to get to the stand as early as 9 a.m. to avoid the queue to get into the park. The Barry Festival of Transport is to be held on 6th June and not the 14th June as previously stated. Attendees of the previous show held in Barry recommend it as a good day out.
Bryant was the only club member who attended the Lancaster MGOC Race Championship 2010 in Pembrey on 28th March. He enjoyed himself but as age is now catching up he had to have a lunch-time nap during the interval. Bryant is also going to Cricket St Thomas at the end of this month for the St. George’s Day celebrations.
Classic Car Awareness Day is to be held on Sunday 25th April and everyone who owns a classic car is encouraged to get out on the road as legislation may be coming in which will stop classic cars being driven. We need to show that our cars are still in use, are being enjoyed and should be treasured as part of our heritage.
Members who own MGFs are reminded about the MGF weekend at Gaydon at the end of July.
Beacons Run – The Beacons Run this year will be held on 26th September over 125 miles, 80% of which will be good surface roads, and will commence in Ammanford and finish in Llandeilo. It is envisaged that the first car will be flagged off at 10 a.m. and the last car flagged off at 11 a.m. The first car should finish by 3 p.m. and the last by 4 p.m. Toilet and coffee stop can be in Tregaron or the surrounding area and lunch can be taken in Rhyader. It is estimated that it will take 2 hours 30 minutes to get the Llangurig and an hour back. It was decided that the entry fee will be £15 and the charity which is to benefit is Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre at Singleton Hospital. Sponsors are invited to advertise in the route map book at a rate of £25 per advert. There will be a trophy for the driver travelling the furthest to start the run and a certificate for every entrant finishing the run.
The run is limited to 120 cars so get your entries in early as they are now coming in thick and fast.
Future club night runs – the subject of runs in the summer was discussed and different venues were considered: – Llwyn Hall, Llwynhendy; New Dock Stars, Llanelli; the Angel Pont Neath – Vaughan; a curry buffet in Cwmtwrch and Chinese restaurants in Ammanford and Penclawdd. John Dorney has now swapped his run with Robin and will organise the July run because he was double booked in June. The June run will be discussed at the May meeting but will start at the Bagle Brook in Baglan at 7 p.m. (postcode SA12 8ES). The plan for the activities in the second half of the year will also be discussed at the May meeting and during the day at Singleton.
Paul Smith now has orders for 5 items (polo shirts, sweatshirts and fleeces) so be quick to order yours if you are interested.
Minutes of meeting held on 2nd March, 2010

Apologies for absence: None.

The Meeting began with members being given entry forms for the Beacons Run and the Singleton Show. Windscreen stickers for the Singleton Show will be available at the April meeting. An entry form had also been received by email for the Barry Festival of Transport which is to be held on 14th June. This is now on the club website.
If anyone is interested in the Lancaster MGOC Race Championship 2010 the first venue is Pembrey on 27/28th March. It is part of the racing calendar and if anyone is interested they could go together as it appears there is a set price per car so the cars should be filled to a maximum.
Singleton Show – The show is being held on 3rd May and forms are also available to download from the website.
Beacons Run – The Beacons Run this year will be held on 26th September over 125 miles, 80% of which will be good surface roads, and will commence in Ammanford and finish in Llandeilo. John Dorney has agreed to organise the June run and Robin Jones will organise the July run. Details to follow but it was suggested that the runs would start at a different point than "The Plough" to encourage promptness of attendees.
Curry Night – the next curry night will be held at the Wig and Pen, Swansea at 8 p.m. on 18th March. The venue remains unchanged as we can be certain of entertainment, which is always welcome, quickly followed by a curry across the road.
Paul Smith is making enquiries about polo shirts, sweatshirts and fleeces and will feed back information at a later date.
Minutes of meeting held on 2nd February 2010
Meeting began at 9 p.m. with 20 members attending.
Apologies for absence: Mr Jeff Robbins.
Outstanding subs for 2010 should be paid promptly to Geoff Powell.
The meeting began with members filling in entry forms for the following runs and shows:
South Wales Classic Car Club Show – Pencoed College 9th May
Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club Show – Scolton Manor 6th June

Singleton Show – If this show is not being held on 3rd May it was suggested that a club run could be organised with other clubs and maybe finish with a meal. The Ammanford Hotel can accommodate 40 cars. This will be discussed at a future date when more information is available.
Beacons Run – The Beacons Run this year will be held on 26th September over 125 miles, 80% of which will be good surface roads, and will commence in Ammanford and finish in Llandeilo. It is estimated that it will take 2 hours 30 minutes to get the Llangurig and an hour back. It was decided that the entry fee will be £15 and the charity which is to benefit will be decided at the next meeting but it will most definitely be a local children’s charity. Sponsors are invited to advertise in the route map book at a rate of £25 per advert. There will be a trophy for the driver travelling the furthest to start the run and a certificate for every entrant finishing the run.
Curry Night – it was decided that the next curry night would be held at the Wig and Pen, Swansea on 18th March. The venue remains unchanged as we can be certain of entertainment, which is always welcome, quickly followed by a curry across the road.
