The Royal Windsor MG Heritage Festival

The Festival marked the 85th anniversary of MG cars and was organised by the MG Owners Club and the Windsor and Eton Rotary Club.
Bryant Hutson and Paul Taylor represented the club at this event, with Bryant appearing in the spectacular cavalcade in his 1962 MGA Mk2.
There were 1,300 cars at the event and of these 300 MG's formed a cavalcade representing the full history of the marque, driving through the streets of Windsor and into the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle where it was anticipated that the cars would be reviewed by Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.
The remaining 1,000 MG's converged and parked on the Long Walk in Windsor Great Park from multi start point scenic runs.
Entrants were given a choice of eight starting points, all converging on Windsor Great Park, and our chosen route started at 8 am at Chieveley Services, near Newbury. The 75 mile route had been planned to allow a leisurely drive enabling us to arrive at the Great Park between mid-day and 1 pm.
The Royal Cavalcade cars were gathered on the Frogmore Parade Ground and were on display to the public from 1.30 pm. As can be imagined this prestige event attracted large crowds and a diverse range of MGs.
MG Motor UK Ltd, the main sponsor, donated a new MG TF LE500 which was sold on a sealed bid basis, with bids in excess of £9,500 being accepted.
All monies raised from the event went to the Prince Philip Trust and Rotary Charities.
